Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about how we buy damaged and salvage boats.
FAQ
What types of damaged boats do you buy?
We buy insurance total losses and constructive total losses, and boats damaged by storm, fire, flood or sinking, including motor yachts, sports cruisers, RIBs and sailing yachts. We also buy boats with mechanical, electrical or structural damage.
Do you buy boats directly from insurers and loss adjusters?
Yes. Our salvage service is designed for marine insurers, loss adjusters and marine surveyors who need a fast, clear offer and quick removal of a damaged vessel so the claim can be closed.
How quickly can you make an offer?
Once we have photos, a survey report or a damage description, we aim to make an offer within 24 hours. Complex cases may need an inspection first.
Can an offer be negative?
Yes. Depending on condition, location, recovery and transport costs, storage and disposal, some vessels are worth less than it costs to deal with them. In that case we quote a fee for taking the vessel, so the insurer pays us rather than the other way round. We state this transparently in the written offer, with the main cost drivers listed.
Where do you operate?
We are based in Cala d'Or, Mallorca, covering the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera), mainland Spain and the rest of Europe. We also operate across the UK, where cases are handled by our separate UK business.
Do you collect and transport damaged boats?
Yes. We arrange lift-out, road transport and delivery to our yard, so the vessel stops incurring marina or storage fees as soon as possible.
Do you take part in salvage tenders?
Yes. We submit bids in insurer and salvage-agent tenders and auctions, and we can also make a direct offer outside a tender.
What paperwork do you handle?
We work with the insurer's documentation, including bills of sale, salvage transfer and abandonment documents, registration and deregistration paperwork, and records of the vessel's condition at collection [confirm list].
How and when is payment made?
By bank transfer against agreed paperwork [confirm timing]. For a positive offer we pay the insurer; for a negative offer we invoice the agreed removal fee.
Is the process confidential?
Yes. We treat claim details, owner information and vessel data as confidential and only share them where required to complete the transfer or by law.
Who runs the business?
We are a family-owned and run company based in Mallorca. Our founder has lived in Mallorca for 15 years and has strong connections across the yachting industry.
